what I learned in Publication Design and Production week 1

 

The first thing I learned was the term Bleed which is a space that supposed to be cut when it comes to printing document or business cards. It’s an interesting term because I can use it for work when I print out photos for people. Its useful because what if something happens during the printing process and something happens to where the business cards are off center. Well with the bleed the problem is just a few cuts away from being fixed.

The second term I learned was Slug which would be an area that you can put edited items in like text, logos, or other images and when you go to print or send it to someone that area that has the text, logos, or other images will not show up. It’s to hid away certain messages so people can get what they want while making sure any notes or signature are added. It’s neat to if you think about it because you can send a customer how to construct the box they wanted a print out of and they can print it out and they can make it without wasting ink they could’ve use for another document.

The last thing I learned was how to make a editing sight being use a lot this semester and how to make it more my own. I can’t wait to get started using adobe editor or create. I’m a little nervous because I’ve only used the software once and that was all the way back in high school, l I think it was my senior year, so to learn about all this is gonna be new.
